Status of the Building Project

The Jackson County School Board has purchased 10 acres of land for Macedonia School. This land adjoins the south boundary of our current property. It runs from County Road 49 through to County Road 43. We can now have access to the school from both roads.  Thanks to the Board of Education and Superintendent Jerry Jeffery for providing for the future of our school.

The building project is well under way. The new plan includes:
9 Classrooms
Regular and Handicapped Restrooms
Administrative Offices
Nurse's Office and a
Gymnasium

The proposed addition will adjoin the 1999  library addition and will be built directly behind the old part of the school. We will continue to have school in the old building until the new one is completed. Projected completion date is January 2005.

The architects, Fuqua Osborn & Assoc.,  designed  the addition, and the bid was awarded to Lee Builders of Huntsville. (These are the folks who built Pisgah School.)  The foreman for the construction project is Ryman Sparks who lives in the Grove Oak area.  He is a wonderful fellow that appears to be very committed to doing a great job. This construction company has a good reputation.

Currently the block masons, Rice Masonry, are working on the exterior walls. The frame of the gym is up and the sheeting is on. They are ready to put the roof on the building. By the end of August, they hope to have the entire facility under roof.  Thing are progressing nicely.

Plans for the new building are on display at the school if anyone is interested in viewing them.
